Interested in Refereeing?

    Whether you’re a current player, past player, club volunteer, new to our game, or just have a passion for Football, you can be equipped with all of the knowledge and support you need to enter the rewarding world of refereeing. 

    Anyone aged 13 and over can become a referee.

    There are so many different reasons to become a referee. It’s a great way to:

    • Stay fit and active
    • Build leadership skills, effective communication, working as a team and decision-making
    • Give back to the game you love
    • Earn some extra money

     

    Steps To Becoming a Referee

    Register on PlayFootball

    You will need to register on PlayFootball as a new referee and pay your new registration fee.

    The fee includes the referee course, your membership fee and the cost of your uniform.

    Any person joining who is aged 18 years or old needs to obtain a paid employee Working with Children Check (WWCC). Details on how to apply are at Service NSW – WWWC or VIC......

    You will need to register based on your age and the package you choose.

    Register for and attend a course

    You will need to attend an entry-level referee course. There are two options based on your aged and the registration package you chose on PlayFootball.

    1. Small Sided Games/Game Leader Course
      This course is for anyone aged 12 – 14 who wants to start on the Small Sided Games of U7 and U8. 
    2. Level 4 Referee Course
      This course is for anyone aged 13 years or older. It allows you to referee at all ages from U12 through to All Age (there are restrictions on which games you can referee in the middle based on your age).

    Uniform and your gear

    You will need to order and collect your uniform.

    Uniforms can be ordered here, along with organising the collection Order Equipment.

    Outside of the uniform package, you will need to also get the following:

    • a watch (or two)
    • predominantly black shoes (they can be football boots, turf boots )

    Get on the Park

    You are now ready to get out on the park and referree your first games.
